In January 2006, drug regulators in Europe asked for stronger warnings on Ketek to address possible links to liver damage, according to a report from The Philadelphia Inquirer.
According to XagenaMedicine2006, the antibiotic Ketek, also called Telithromycin, has been linked to liver failure and hepatitis. Three reports were referred to the FDA's Adverse Event Reporting System (AERS).
Ketek is often used to treat acute bacterial infections from chronic bronchitis, acute bacerial sinusitis and community-acquired pheumonia. If you are a patient taking Ketek and have experienced weakness, malaise or jaundice, you should report it to your doctor immediately.
